Fashion@Home: the playhouse

The boy bought me the Olympus Pen EL-1 camera for Christmas last year because I wanted to take better photos of the little pumpkin. I kept seeing such vibrant, sharp pro photos around and I felt that it just wasn't doing the little pumpkin any justice by taking lousy-quality photos of her. After all, these photo memories are meant to last.. erm, forever??

Of course, that was before I got my iPhone 4, which I found took rather good pictures. Best of all, there are so many camera and photo-editing app, which made it such a joy for a trigger-happy person like myself. Click, edit, post.

No need to download onto the comp, and I'm not that handy with Photoshop so being able to easily add filters, change colours, crop with some fast simple finger movements is pretty appealing. I can even do it in bed or while on the bus!

Anyway, back to the Olympus camera. Since it is still rather bulky, and more complex than a point-and-shoot, I didn't really make use of it much. Just like how I don't really follow recipes, I don't really read manuals too. Which of course, isn't that smart when using a camera like this. So, it was sitting all pretty in the shelves most of the time. Olympus has now made E-PL2 and EPL3 cameras ;/

Recently my sister borrowed it to take some pictures of her friend. So out it came, and after playing around with it a bit, I got more interested in it again... I'm still trying to figure it out though!

Was a little bored at home with the little pumpkin over the weekend and thought to try a little Fashion@Home shoot with her :) You can read my first post on that here. As usual, it was great fun with the bub and gave me an opportunity to use the Olympus E-PL1.

The little pumpkin is wearing a Polo Ralph patchwork dress. All shot at her sunny playhouse. In case you were wondering what the little pumpkin was looking at in some of the shots, she was actually watching TV. I think ANTM was on at the time... pretty apt, huh? :)

What bonding activities do you have with your kids? Any photography tips you would like to share with me??

Sharing at Jess's, Cherished Treasures & 504main today :)

Don't forget to come back tomorrow (5 Oct 11) to join my Wordless Wednesday linky party!

She is just the cutest thing!

I've been asking Boatman for a new camera, but to no avail. Which is probably a good thing due to the fact that I use my iPhone almost exclusively. Love what you can do on it.
Have you tried the app Splice? You can create photo montages and put them to music.

If you think that the micro 4/3 cameras, i.e. EPL1 etc are still too bulky, you should consider the higher end of the p&S cameras like the upcoming Canon S100!!

Jess: no I haven't but will check it out! I've been looking out for good video editing apps too.. currently hooked on Picstitch :)

Kelvin: Thanks for the recommendation! We got a new p&S from I think Olympus too {free gift}.. plus hardly use this one, and I still love my old Canon p&s so don't think we shld get another camera atm haha.

You have such an adorable daughter Ai! These pictures are lovely.A cousin in the U.S.A. sent me a Kodak EasyShare M530 digital camera and I was lost for quite some time. Then another cousin came on a visit from Canada and gave me some help and I have learnt a lot about using it. It has also helped me with my Blog. I need to learn some more about it as I understand it can also take videos! Take care.
