Letter to my girl #5 | Joy is Being with You

Dear Lil Pumpkin,

It has been about 3 months since you started preschool. What does it mean to you? To Mummy and Daddy, it has shown us how much you have grown. You are now more "independent", and can eat, sleep and play well even without us around. Your teachers said that your reasoning skills are strong, and you can articulate your needs well. You also socialise and make friends easily in your own class, and in the playground with kids in other classes too. We never had doubts about that :) Lil Pumpkin, you are such a little joybug and am sure to bring cheer to whoever you meet! However can anybody resist you?? haha...

What we are relieved to hear is the part that you eat and nap well in preschool. My dear, meal-times can be such a struggle at home. Mummy has to try all sorts of soft and hard methods to get you to finish your meal. It's amazing that you are such a chubby one, considering how much you eat and how much you run around! Sleeping time has certainly gotten better since the day you were born. I remember those times when you would wake up every single hour at night. Now, maybe 3 times at the most. Will your 3rd birthday be the turning point for you to sleep through the night?

Speaking of which, your 3rd birthday is only about 1.5 months away! Are you excited?? Mummy sure is! I've been planning the birthday in my head {and well, on Pinterest} for a few months already. I would love to throw you a Pretty Princess Party for your 3rd birthday! Sometimes, you would tell us that you are a princess, and since you adore dress-ups and playing with make-up, this really seems like the best birthday theme for you :)

Mummy and Daddy will arrange for a small birthday party with your classmates on a school day. Last weekend I was at the shops and bought some stuff for the birthday loot bags already. Probably on the day itself, as it falls on a Saturday, we will have family come over to our home for a bigger party!! Wheee!! 楽しみ!すげいなぁ~!

Lil Pumpkin, Mummy just want to tell you that you were never in the phase of "Terrible Twos". Yes, you threw tantrums and had many bawling sessions, but isn't that the same for any other toddler? The times when you made us laugh, smile, dance, and want to cuddle you to death far outweighed any moments that made us angry or upset. You were certainly part of the "Terrific Twos" sweetie!

Joy is definitely being with you every single day.

Love always, Mummy

Awwww so sweet! Have fun planning for the birthday bash, it's such a huge milestone and I honestly love the planning process though it can get tiring, but seeing her big smile on that day just makes everything so worth it. =) Year after year.

Just beautiful. Enjoy the party when it comes around :)
Isn't it funny how they can eat, sleep and sometimes behave so much better for others than at home

I can't wait to start planning for Sophie's birthday party. I was just asking her if she wanted to have a Mickey Mouse theme or a Princess theme since her favorite princess is Ariel and she went Mickey and Goofy and Daisy. Cant wait to see photos of her birthday party :)

best thing about starting preschool for us was that after a full day of school, my son was pretty tired at the end of the day. it was easy to get him to sleep early and on time! sounds like she adjusted well to school.

Hubby and I have determined that it must be the social peer pressure at Childcare that makes them do what they won't do at home, like eat and sleep properly. I've seen it now with both my girls. Must just be the way it is. It's good Lil Pumpkin has settled in though. It's such a weight of your mind. Good luck with prepping for the 3rd birthday party. We seemed to miss the terrible twos as well, but I suspect we are heading into the trying threes now. Oh well. :-)
