Blog Break | Leaving on a Jet Plane ♪

This is one of my favourite photos of the boy and me. Taken circa 2007 if I'm not wrong :) He came to visit me in Japan during the winter hols and spent Christmas there with me.

On Thursday we will be leaving on a jet plane... I'd like to continue on and say don't know when we will be back again but no, we will be back on Sunday :P My sneaky boy planned a surprise trip to Hong Kong for the weekend! Part of my birthday present and also because he wants to have a little break from work.

This holiday will be a little different because we will be going sans Lil Pumpkin. Oh yes, you read right. A trip without the kid!!! Of course we will miss her, and no, I really don't think this makes us bad parents.

In a family, it is important not only to cultivate relationships with your children, but also with your husband/wife too. Don't forget that as much as you are somebody's mother/father, you are also somebody else's wife/ husband. Communication and spending time with one another is just as important as it was when you were dating to keep the love alive, maybe even more now that you are married with a lot of other commitments.

The boy and I do have couple dates now and then, but this is the first time we will be overseas without Lil Pumpkin. She already went for a little holiday without us last year, by the way. When she was younger, I wouldn't think of going away without her even for a day, but now I feel a little less "guilty" since she is older and more independent. She actually enjoys the "freedom" when we are not around too. Plus, we know that she will be in good hands with my mother taking care of her for just those few days.

So yup, I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with just the boy exploring the mesmerising streets, eating all the Chinese delicacies and shopping to our hearts' content in Hong Kong, Pearl of the Orient. As with all my family breaks, I won't be online much but you know that I can't really stay away from Instagram {find me as @AiSakuraHaruka} haha.. so look out for some of my updates on-the-go there.

Have you been on trips without your kids before? Do you want to?

You are so wise! Seriously, the best thing for your children is your love for each other. It is the foundation of their universe! Have a wonderful trip, revel in each other, and come home with so much love stored up that you radiate it wherever you go.

Yes! A little one but I'd love to go away for a week. The girls are only 17 months though so they aren't ready yet. Maybe in six months?

Oooooh enjoy, you two love birds !!! I've been to Melbourne twice now without the twinlets. The first time I was a mess (they were 18 months) the second time I thought I was okay, but I kept thinking about them (they were 2 yrs old).
But Mr Surfer and I haven't been away together without the boys yet.
Soon. I'm hoping real soon.
That's a beautiful photo of you and the boy, by the way ;)

That IS a lovely photo. You're lucky to have found your soulmate and at a young age too. :)

No I have't gone on a holiday without the kid. Think I'd miss her too much. But hubby is targeting a tour of Turkey which the kids won't be old enough for for a long time. Thinking thinking... maybe in a few years!

Lovely! Have a wonderful time. I think couple-time away from the kids is necessary, and I'm sure your lil pumpkin will have fun with your mum!

All the best in the blog awards too, I'm happy to vote for you! :-)

It's been way too long since hubby and I had a date. We'ave always more been homebodies, even before kids, but I think we should have, and need to, start having date nights. It's not going to happen unless we can find a baby sitter though. Even writing this though, I know I feel guilty leaving them. Because of that, I barely ever go out on my own and leave them it's hubby. I realised I need to get over that.

By the way, have a lovely time!

I've only ever gone away on my own, when I went to DPCON. I love the idea of having a holiday with just boatman, but we will wait until Miss Ava is a bit older, because she really wouldn't cope without us now I don't think.

Have a wonrful holiday! Hope it's womderful and refining for you. :)

I hope you have a great time, you guys deserve it! And you're right, it's important to maintain the loving, strong relationship between each other because in the end, that will benefit your lil pumpkin as well ;)
