Little Girls Hairstyles: Braids #1

Being a kid, the future seems so bright as the possibilities or what you can do and acheive are endless. I wanted to be many things when I was younger. A lawyer, a psychologist, a hotel owner, a fashion designer, a writer, and yes, even a hairstylist.

Obviously I'm not really any of those things now ;p Maybe just the writer bit because of this blog. But anyway, I've always liked having fun with hair, styling it creatively and looking at hair mags or Pinterest for inspirations. Unfortunately, I've also been quite snip-happy so my hair hasn't really grown below shoulder-length before and that kind of limits the choice of hairstyles.

It's a good thing that I have Lil Pumpkin now. She's such a doll and I love styling her long luscious hair!! She usually takes it quite well i.e. sits relatively still when I work on her hair, and loves to play dress-up with me. Reason #1215451 to have daughters, I say heh. I'm gonna start snapping photos of her various hairstyles for record sake. Below are some I did recently on braids.

Braids pinned up with her flower clips.

Mini side braids with a messy low chignon.

Multi-braids.

Love her spontaneous laughter in this photo and thought she looked quite cute when I edited her to be blue. Lil Pumpkin looks like a little Avatar Na'vi girl, or Mini Smurfette... or if you watch scary shows, Ju-On {Japanese horror movie} Toshio-kun's sister!! haha

Do you like to style your kids' hair? Where do you get your inspiration?

I Blog on Tues with Diary of a SAHM.

I am not sure I could say my girls really have a hair style as such. Th eldest just lets it grow, the middle had her first hair cut at 5 years followed by a rather badly bowl cut by me a month or so ago. Thankfully it grows back hey?

I love braiding my little niece's hair!
That first photo is amazing! I remember admiring it on IG. Gosh that Lil Pumpkin is a cutie pie - even when she's blue :)

Rhianna: yes thank goodness hair grows back! haha. Lil Pumpkin hasn't had any major haircuts before, just lil trims by me :P

Cynful Pleasure: thanks. me too :)

Rachel: I usually do when taking her pix!

Grace: actually all are pretty easy to do. I want to try a little more challenging styles on her heh.

Your darling little girl is very different to my two munchkins I must say. I can barely get a hairclip onto mine!

Gorgeous!

My poor children have a mummy who doesn't really do hair, but they're both old enough to experiment with the video tutorials they find on YouTube.

I love doing the girls hair, and they are very good at letting me play with it.

Ava, though, doesn't like her hair being done, so I've just kept hers in a bob which I never did with Taylah and Bridie, and I have to say I kind of love it on her. Suits her to a tee. :)

My girls still don't have enough hair but given how girly Miss T is becoming, I'm sure she'll be askIng for fancy stuff soon, especially since her har is finally growing.

As kids, I'd style my sister's long hair. I'd chopped mine short because I was being a tomboy but I guess I was always feminine deep down. :-)

Aw so cute!! I want to braid my little girl's hair, but she doesn't sit still long enough half the time haha.

Have three little boys no no hair styling happening over here! I used to love when my mum put my hair in ponytails, but that's about all I remember. :)
I've never quite mastered the art of braiding myself...
