U Family Picnic at Marina Barrage + {Giveaway}

As much as we like to have fun at swimming pools and waterplay areas, sometimes these places are closed for maintenance or other reasons....

And poor Lil Pumpkin gets so sad :(

Thankfully, we like to have picnics as well and the good thing about picnics is that you have have it ANYWHERE! Yup, all you need is a good patch of space to sit on to have a good time together :) Sometimes we go to West Coast Park, Botanical Gardens or Sentosa or even just on our living room floor haha

For our next picnic excursion, we are looking forward to the U Picnic event on Sat 6 October 2012.

U Picnic is organised by U Family and supported by NTUC FairPrice. The first-ever U Picnic is an evening under-the-stars for all ages, especially for families with young children. It will be held at the beautiful Marina Barrage, where you can see a magnificent view of Singapore's city skyline. We just had a family photo-shoot there and I love how our photos turned out with the scenic backdrop!

There will be live band performances, lots of children amusements {e.g. free popcorn & candy floss, balloon sculptor, face painters, costumed characters, bouncy castles, kite flying, story-telling etc.} and food vendors will also be there to sell sumptuous international & local delights like Nasi Bryani, satay etc. Participants can also stand to win prizes in challenges such as Best Dressed Family Contest, Best Family Moments Photography Contest and Most Creative Picnic Setup Contest. For more info, check out the event website.

Unfortunately, ticket sales and registration for U Picnic has closed. However, I'm giving away TWO U Picnic tickets {worth S$30 each} to my special readers for the sold-out event! Each ticket admits 4 people {any combination of adults and kids}, and also redeems a complimentary U Picnic Basket packed with goodies {like the one shown above, but contents may differ} and a U Picnic mat worth more than S$30 upon check-in at Marina Barrage on the event day. To enter, simply

It's so annoying when you rock up to a water park or pool to find it closed for maintenance! Happened to us recently and G was so disappointed!

In my opinion, the best place to have picnics is the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Any green lawn there is lovely and sometimes, there are free concerts too.

Singapore lack clean green grass unlike in australia but that shouldnt stop any one from doing a picnic given we have sunshine all year round. the best spot we had done was at ECP..and the kids had the fun digging sand and making sand castle.
