We attended the long-awaited
NTUC U Picnic event at the Marina Barrage last Sat. Again, the sky threatened to rain down on our parade, but thankfully didn't. It was actually a beautiful, cloudy day out and the turnout at the event was massive!
The boy and Lil Pumpkin tried kite-flying for the first time. Other people make it look so easy, but they found it quite difficult to lift it into the sky!! I guess we need more practice :P
My parents joined us for this family outing :) So happy they came along and enjoyed themselves!
Some of our picnic food that mum and I prepared.
Lil Pumpkin having fun on the bouncy castles. There were lots of fun fringe activities like wind-mill making, balloon-sculpting, sgraffito art drawing etc. Unfortunately, there was only 1 vendor for each of these activities and the queues were horrendous! For such a big-scale event, I think it would have been best to have at least 2-3 stalls for each activity. It is a shame to spend such a long time waiting for these entertaining activities, and not actually enjoying them or the picnic.
Coupons for the fringe activities. 2 strangers actually came up to Lil Pumpkin to give us their extra coupons!! Aww how sweet!
One with a big Hunny Bear! There were a few animal mascots running around, but I'm not sure for what brand. Food cereals??
The boy lined up for balloons {there was only 1 poor balloon-sculptor for the huge crowd}, while we went to get our face / body painted. Took us about 1 hour before it was our turn :/
But with a wide grin from Lil Pumpkin, all worth it {I guess} haha
Had my face painted too. So pretty! I am convinced that I must now get some face-paint and start having some face-painting fun at home with Lil Pumpkin *grins*
Love simple family days like these!
Marina Barrage is really such an ideal place for a picnic with the big rooftop lawn, gorgeous city skyline and convenient parking. It's walking distance from
Gardens by the Bay {latest must-visit attraction in Singapore} and I think the next time we have a picnic, we will explore there!
I Blog on Tues with
Diary of a SAHM. Read about the other
fun activities we did with Lil Pumpkin here or my list of
Kid-Friendly places in Singapore.
* Disclosure: The event coverage was due to an invitation from NTUC U Family. No monetary compensation was received, and all opinions are my own.

Whoo so many family-oriented activities in Singapore. Looks like you guys had a great time.
Love pumpkin's grin too :)
..but my little gal got a phobia of all-things-in-costume now :p
Hi! Bonnie Franks said to get in touch as you may be able to help :)
Here is the post I wrote about my problem - maybe you could help me figure out how to order these lovely shoes?

Looks fun, Ai! And the food you and your mum prepared looks delicious too! Wish we could have joined you guys! =)
Oh such a pity when these fantastic events aren't optimised by a lack of planning. Those are long times to wait for little kids!
Glad you had fun though, and yes, I think you should get some face paint. I'd like to see pics of your testing your skills. ;)
Wow this looks like such a great day!!

Thanks so much for trying to help me with those lovely kitty shoes - you are so kind!
I did manage to email the company and they said they didn't ship internationally at all. So no cute kitty shoes for me :(
Thanks so much for your help though!
