Last Sat Lil Pumpkin and I attended the
Get Creative with Canon Pixma Craft Workshop at Suntec City. Canon holds craft workshops for parents and kids twice a year, and it's open to public for free. The theme this time was "Animal Crafts Galore" and we crafted adorable paper animal calendars and door greetings.
With our digital cameras & smartphones it's so easy to be snap-happy and take many family photos, but we often don't take the time to print them out *sigh* These are some from our recent
Hong Kong Disneyland holiday that I printed out at the session with the Canon Pixma photo printer. The quality is as good as those printed out at the shops! I'm excited to print more out with our own Canon Pixma printer and frame up these memories heh
All the colourful arts & craft materials were provided. I love those furry mini pompoms!! haha
First craft we did was for a 2014 calendar. Chose a family photo with Mickey and Minnie for the front page! :)
I did most of the cutting...
While Lil Pumpkin had fun sticking them down and drawing her little doodles :P
Ta-dah! Not too bad I reckon haha..
Craft tip: you can use mounting tape to make the little animals "pop" out :)
Next up was the door greetings. I love these origami templates! All you have to do is to cut them out, follow the simple instructions to make the folds carefully and you have a 3D paper animal!
Fine motor skills are required for this craft though so probably suitable for the older kids to do.
Our little panda!!
Fun afternoon crafting and bonding with Lil Pumpkin :)
If you like to craft with your kids, definitely visit the
Canon Creative Park website. It is an online collection of printing resources, all of which can be
downloaded for free. You don't have to register as a member and all the animal craft materials shown here are printed from that website. You can also find other resources for scrapbooking, card-making, gifts etc. there. I've seen a few I want to do with Lil Pumpkin to decorate our home this Christmas.
Also check out the rest of our
Bub & Me activities or list of
kid-friendly places in Singapore :)

Another great post I've just bookmarked for school holiday sanity. I love these activities. I'd go to a free parent child workshop! (but, erm, I have a Nikon DSLR, ahem...) :)
how much fun does that look?! I bet she loved it! I love that calendar. my son could never sit still long enough to get into arts and crafts. he was too much of a "boy" wanting to play and run riot instead ;-) x Aroha

Mandy: I think she would too ;)
Twitchy: glad you found it useful! You don't need a Canon camera to attend this, if that's what you meant haha
Aroha: Forgot to add that this was a 3hrs workshop... PLENTY of time for the kids to run around (which they sure did!) and come back to craft :P

I think I might get my older girls doing some scrapbooking stuff in the holidays, because they would just have so much fun. Plus it means I would actually be able to do something with all my photos for once :)
