Excellent listeners and even better observers, these scout elves are the eyes and ears of Santa Claus and help to report the good / bad deeds of the children each night. They cannot be touched {must tell the kiddos this!!} or else they may lose their magic. The elves also like to play games with the family, so each day, they will be found hiding in different spots of the house. On Christmas Eve, the scout elf will listen for Santa’s bell and then fly back to the North Pole until the next season, wishing every girl and each boy a Christmas of peace and a year full of joy.
I first learnt about this tradition from the Aussie and US blogs I followed. They were posting all the cute "mischief" that their little elves get into each day, and there's a whole lot of ideas on Pinterest too. I wasn't really planning on getting one until late November last year {hence the real reason why our elf arrived late!} when I was surfing Book Depository and saw that it was on sale there. Thought it would be a fun thing to do with Lil Pumpkin for Christmases to come!

I look forward to thinking about the different scenerios and mischief she can get into this coming Christmas, much like what we did for Danboard in my Wordless Wednesday series last year :) I'll be updating Arwen's movements on my Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook page so stay tuned ;)
If you want to get one for your family, you should purchase one now so that it reaches you by December, when all the elves come out to play!! Check out Amazon, Book Depository or Fishpond. The elves come as a girl or boy, dark-skinned or light-skinned.. and if you prefer, they have plush toy versions too. I suggest you get the set with the book as it's such a delightful read too!

I actually didn't grow up with the elf. I really only learned about it when Mica was a few years old. I decided to not start it. I have seen it do really fun things on other peoples blogs!
I do a mischief thing on St. Patty's Day. It's not a day we celebrate (we're not big drinkers), but a little leprechaun has left green pee in the toilet, and the seat up. Really green food coloring. It gave the boys a good laugh.
