Obento {お弁当} is a home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. When people think of obentos, they usually think of elaborate kyara-bens {キャラ弁}, or character obentos {キャラクター弁当} which feature food decorated to look like kawaii characters from popular media, animals, and plants. Yes they are beautiful, intricate and also time-intensive to make.

So follow me in my new weekly series for Wordless Wednesday, and I hope to inspire you to create healthy, everyday obento meals for your family with these simple ideas and tools too.
What's in my obento this week?
Hot Japanese beef curry with pumpkin rice and goya {bittergourd} stir-fried with egg.
These photos are part of the 52 Weeks Family Obento Ideas series.

That food looks so good! We took my parents out to eat. We usually have special things to eat here, but we're leaving to go to my in-laws tomorrow. Last year we had a dance party for kids.
