Valentine's Day 2014 | DIY Tree of Celebration

This year I started on the boy's Valentine's Day gift super late because I was traveling for 2 weeks early Jan, and when I got back I was busy catching up with work and celebrating Chinese New Year. However, since I was determined to continue on with my tradition of making unique Tree art for him every year {see the previous Tree of Love & Tree of Remembrance}, on Monday I sneaked out of bed early in the morning to craft the Tree of Celebration.

Of course I couldn't wake Lil Pumpkin to craft with me at 3am in the morning {remember the golden parenting rule - KISS? Keep It Sleeping, Stupid! haha} so this time, I did it all alone.

For the bark, I used my precious MT Singapore 限定 Safari washi tape since he's a vet so he'd probably appreciate that {plus he knows I only use that tape very, very sparingly so that means he's really special へへ}, and stamped colourful dots for the green leaves and red apples with cotton buds.

Unlike the previous Trees, this one isn't bursting with colours. I quite like the simplicity in this year's creation. 2014 is the 10th year that the boy and I will be celebrating Valentine's Day together. Pretty special and although it's still a short time compared to some others, I always look back and marvel at how far we've come together. This Tree of Celebration is to celebrate our eventful journey together through ups and downs, and the fruit of all our hard work at making this relationship work. We're at a good place now, and I pray our love will only continue to blossom and grow :)

Both of us are on leave today to take our mermaids-and-sea-loving Lil Pumpkin out to the S.E.A Aquarium. Although it's probably a popular day to do more couple lovey-dovey things together, we think it's even better to spend it with the product of our love :P After all, the other 364 days in a year are just as good to romance one another!

Happy Valentine's Day my dear! チュゥゥゥ~!

That's a nice idea, a tree of celebration that evolves each year as you do. What a great tradition.

Nice nice nice. :)

Agree there's no need to hype up Valentine's day. Me, I'm taking the kids to catch a lion dance! (it's also the last day of CNY).
