An Extra Pair of Eyes with Foscam Wireless IP Camera

On those days when she isn't so eager to help, Lil Pumpkin will spend a long time playing inside her room while I'm cooking or doing some other household chores.

She has a Flexa mid-high bed with a slide, which is very fun, but can still be a little worrisome since accidents might happen. Instead of popping by to check every now and then, we found it very convenient to have the Foscam F18910W indoor wireless IP camera connected in her room.

It is smartphone compatible {works with my iPhone or the boy's Android} and we can monitor her from our phones' internet browsers while we are in other parts of the apartment. You can also download apps like IP Cam Viewer Lite & Foscam Surveillance Pro for iPhones, IP Cam Viewer for Androids and TotalControl for Blackberry phones to stream the live video and audio.

Its live footage is also viewable over the internet with standard web browsers on our computer if we're using it to work. The interface is easy to navigate and control even for a tech noob like me :P

As the latest model from Foscam, the FI8910W features high quality video and audio, wireless connectivity, easy pan/tilt, remote internet viewing, as well as a built in network video recording system. It also has an Infra Red (IR)-Cut filter that automatically adjusts the lighting exposure to provide accurately colored images that don't look washed out.

Another function we like is the motion detection feature. We can configure it to get instant notifications via email whenever motion is detected and the camera will record snapshots when anyone enters or exits the area. So let's say we are away traveling a week or two. If a robber comes in *touch wood*, our camera will immediately alert us and we can call the cops / neighbours for help. Fantastic!

The set up was a bit tricky even with the manual provided. The boy found the above online video which helped a lot and overall it took about 30 mins to set up. Do note that even thought it's "wireless" for internet connectivity, you will need to have it near a power outlet.

The boy also took reference from this video to help with the wireless set-up on our computer.

Lil Pumpkin currently only sleeps in her bed if one of us is with her. When she's older and willing to sleep there alone, the Foscam camera will be useful to keep an eye on her from the comfort of our bed ^^V Using 11 infra-red LEDs, it has great night-vision and can record in total darkness.

I think the Foscam camera will also be great as a baby monitor or for those that have helpers at home, and wish to be more involved in what happens while they are away. It's always nice to have an extra pay of eyes at home, no? :) If you're interested to purchase, you can get the F18910W {S$129} in black or white from Foscam Singapore website or any of their authorised retail outlets.

* Disclosure: Foscam Singapore provided the Foscam F18910W indoor wireless IP camera for review. No monetary compensation was received, and all opinions are my own.

Ai the Spy! :p

Love her room, that pink slide and hammock-chair thing rocks.

No way! This would be perfect for me. Not that I want to spy on my boys necessarily, but sometimes when they go play and shut the door, I would like to see what they are up to.

That is very convenient! I would have loved one of these when the girls were small. Especially when they were babies. I used to want to check on them constantly, and I accidentally woke them up from their naps on occasion. This surely would have prevented that, but still gave me the peace of mind knowing they were ok during nap time.

A great way to keep an eye on them, without being in their room.

WOW that is a great set up - and even I would love to play in that room! :)

This is probably not the point of your post, but Lil Pumpkin's room is so cool! I'm sure she has lots of fun in there. :) We've been thinking of getting a camera like that to serve as a baby monitor, so that my husband can 'see' Noah when he's away at work, especially when he's overseas. This looks like a good option!

That's the coolest bed. I love the idea of a second set of eyes especially given my wee girl's penchant for getting into mischief. Must look for one :-)
