Bub & Me: LolliBox Sun, Sand & Sea Theme Edu-Play Kit + {Giveaway}

We went for a weekend staycation to celebrate our 11th anniversary together, but the boy still had to go to work in the mornings. While waiting for him to return, I crafted with Lil Pumpkin. I had already packed along a LolliBox Edu-Play Kit along for our trip as one of the activities to do during our free time. It's so convenient because all the craft materials and know-how content are included in the box!

LolliBox is an innovative service that offers busy parents an easy option to encourage creativity in young children with their monthly-themed edu-play activities delivered straight to the door. We had already done the Under the Sea theme, Blow Wind Blow theme and even their seasonal Christmas theme so this time, we worked on the Sun, Sand and Sea theme which was perfect for our sunny staycation at the chalet!

The first 2 activities that Lil Pumpkin wanted to do was to create her own colourful sun visor and flower lei to go Hawaii-style! :P Such a mini fashionista!

The foam sun visor and stickers were all provided so all she had to do was to stick them on to her fancy. Easy peasy.

The crafting of the flower lei was a bit trickier and required finer motor skills and hand-eye coordination. First, she had to cut the plastic coloured straws {under my supervision, of course}, then carefully thread the plastic straws and felt flowers together. You can see her doing it in this Vine video.

The instructions recommended threading 2 felt flowers to every coloured straw bit, but we preferred using 3 felt flowers instead. There was more than enough materials to make a decent length. The boy liked it so much that he asked Lil Pumpkin if he could wear it out too hahaha.

I think the next time we go out to the park, we'll look around for natural foliage like flowers, leaves, vines, seeds etc. to make our fresh lei. It'll be interesting to make one with plants unique to Singapore!

The next activity we did was to decorate our own beach ball. As we were going to the beach for fun and water games, it was great to have included in the box kit. The materials included an inflatable plain white beach ball, paints and some small brushes.

I thought that the paint would easily wash away once the ball touched water so instead, I brought along some sharpies {permanent markers} for Lil Pumpkin to draw some patterns and colour. That worked much better. She drew some of her favourite things like a heart, house, bag and... Princess Belle!! :) The boy said it looks like an ewok though... huuurrmph.

He helped her to draw this big butterfly, which Lil Pumpkin then coloured in. I thought was rather pretty actually. The boy always seems to surprise me with his creativity!! Do you know he makes his own macrame bead bracelets and necklaces?

Other than these craft activities, the kit came with ideas on how Lil Pumpkin could learn how to discover sun silhouettes, create sand shakers, and desalinate sea water! It was so much fun and definitely made our chalet staycation much more fulfilling.

Aloha from Lil Pumpkin~! All ready for fun in the sun, sand and sea!!
