Singapore National Day 2014 | Happy 49th Birthday!

It's Singapore's 49th birthday this weekend!!! Last year we managed to get some tickets to watch the National Day Parade 2013 preview at Marina Bay {our first time as a family!}, but this year we couldn't make it when there were tickets available for us at the preview 2 weeks back. Hope we manage to get tickets to the actual parade this Saturday, but I guess chances are really, really slim haha.

Would be nice to see it live again as the 2014 parade will be held for the final time at the The Float at Marina Bay after 7 years. In 2016, it will be heading back to the new Singapore National Stadium.

We were walking past the National Design Centre at Bugis on Sunday and saw these cute bubble stickers up on their windows. Decided to have an impromptu family photoshoot there :P

The boy and I were pleasantly surprised to see that Lil Pumpkin was very 自动 and knew how to pose with the speech or thought bubbles without us prompting! I guess all those "fashion shoots" with mummy has taught her well hahaha

Even the boy got into the fun :) "Saya" means "I" in Malay so this sign says "I love Singapore".

Which we do.. Although we may complain about the high costs of living, or stressful education system, or top-down approach the government takes with us, Singapore is still a great place to live. The streets are safe, we have a dependable health system, and yes although our trains have been breaking down more than we like recently, as least they are still reliable and we don't have road jams that last for hours.

What with the recent news about the Gaza conflict or Ebola outbreak, there definitely is a lot to be grateful for and I'm glad this is the country that we are bringing up Lil Pumpkin in. Over here, I'm certain that we can give her our very best to keep her safe, and she will have the opportunities to grow her dreams.

I love to travel and explore the world with Lil Pumpkin to take in the different sights & experiences... but at the end of the day, this will always be the place we come home to :)

Our people, our home. Happy 49th birthday, Singapore!!!
May you continue to prosper and grow as a nation!

True, with the catastrophes going on today, I do feel I should count my blessings. (And not complain so much about various things hehe)
