A Time for Everything

This weekend has been eventful, but not exactly in a good way. Someone's close family member passed away, someone lost a child, and someone got her heart broken.

It's not often that we have to deal with such sorrow but life is not just about the ups, but downs too. Was just a bit harder having to face it all in the same weekend too. Made me think about this Bible verse from Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8,

" There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace."

I'm not too good with words in these situations and felt pretty helpless. Words don't mean much in times like these and if you say too much, it may make them feel worst, but if you say too little, you may sound aloof or insincere.

A friend told me that no words can ease their pain but just being there, in presence and thoughts, is comforting enough. That's true indeed. I can't turn back time and make the bad situations go away, but I can at least be there for them.

And I hope they know it.

Indeed there is a time for everything...which is why, we should cherish the happy moments even more...Sending special thoughts of comfort to your friend who have lost a child and a loved one this past weekend....big hugs to you too. May the rainbows that appear after the storms comfort them that God is still in control...

That's very true. No words can erase the pain but by just being there. Hope they all find the closure eventually

I am terrible at saying comforting things in sad situations. You certainly summed it up beautifully here.

Life can be so sad. What to do, have to shoulder those also.
