Kids Swim & Beach Style | Baby BeachBums + {GIVEAWAY}

Lil Pumpkin has been attending swim classes regularly for slightly more than one month now. She goes to our club once a week on Saturday mornings, and has an extra practice session with me on one weekday evening. Usually on Mondays.

It's been fun having that extra bonding time with her in the pool, and it's very rewarding to see her progressing well from someone who couldn't even float without her arm buoys, to someone who can kick and glide by herself for about 6m in such a short time :) Recently, her swimming class co-ordinator also told me that the coaches think she's ready to advance to the next swimming level.. even without taking the test at the end of the term. Woohoo!! Well done my dear, your hard work has certainly paid off.

But the best part of all these swimming is that, she really, really enjoys it a lot. You can literally see her face light up whenever she knows she's going to the swimming pool and Lil Pumpkin feels very pleased by herself when she manages a new swimming skill too. One of the new things I taught her, outside of class, is to retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool. This is to get her to swim confidently underwater, and to be able to hold her breath longer. She managed it on the first day and each time we swim together now, she'll ask excitedly if we can play that "game" again.

Since we've been going to the swimming pool more often, we definitely need more swimwear and gear!! We found that Baby Beachbums online shop offers pretty affordable UV-protective swimwear and gear that are stylish and comfortable.

As her Saturday swim lessons are in the morning, one thing that worries me is that her tender eyes and skin are overexposed to the harsh morning sun. So for goggles on really sunny days, I wanted to get those with dark lenses, like the Aqua Sphere Seal Kid with Dark Lens goggles. Its dark lens offer 100% UVA and UVB protection as well as a scratch-resistant coating. Would have loved to get it in pink for her but they didn't have any, so the next best choice was to get it in green, the boy's fave colour haha.

Made in Italy, it has a flexible frame that sits outside the eye area for comfort and the soft silicone material is pliable and durable, allowing it to retain its flexibility and shape over time. However, I think because her nose bridge is too small, it does not fit her very well and there's a gap so water can seep through. I'd suggest to get this for older kids and I'd keep this for her until she gets bigger.

Or maybe I'd use it since it fits me quite well :P Still have to get used to this expanded, 180-degree field of vision but you can definitely see more underwater with it!

Lil Pumpkin really likes her Aqua Sphere Moby Kid with Blue Lens goggles though. This one we managed to get in pink! :P Like the green Seal Kid goggles, it has a flexible goggle frame and soft gasket to cushion her delicate skin around the eye and keep water from going in. The lens is also covered in a scratch-resistant coating and offers children 100% UVA and UVB protection.

The blue lens is ideal for bright conditions reducing glare and reflections, but also since it's not too dark, is great for indoor use or when there's low light like in the evenings.

Lil Pumpkin gets pretty frustrated when her goggles fog up so she's very happy with the anti-fog coating {that works!} and can easily adjust her goggle straps during lesson time by herself with the easy-adjust buckles. No more toddling up to me to ask me for help!

This pair of goggles is smaller and fits her face better. It was designed specifically for junior swimmers, with Aqua Sphere's easy-to-adjust buckle system that even the littlest of hands will find easy to use. It is a perfect starter pair for budding swimmers as it will help keep them comfortable and relaxed in the water so that they can better focus on the task at hand.

For swimwear, I prefer Lil Pumpkin to wear 2-piece swim suits as it's easier to get in and out off, especially when she needs to go to the toilet fast! The UPF 50+ {meaning about 99% of UV radiation is blocked} UV protective Sunset Beach rashguard has long sleeves to protect her arms right up to her wrist, and I like the pink & orange zipper neck embroidery details. Very fashionable and pretty.

The microfiber boy-style shorts is easy to put on too with the zipper/snap closure with bold pinks of orange, pink and purple. Lil Pumpkin doesn't like to swim with shorts but it's still handy to wear around at the pool or beach since it is water-resistant. 

The Sassy Surfer swimwear caught my eye because of the pink polka dots and ruffles! So adorable! It is also sun-protective with a UPF50+ rating, a full zipper down front which makes it so easy to put-on and take-off and a no-pinch zipper flap at the top.

This is definitely one of her fave now :)

Another swimming costume that caught my eye for Lil Pumpkin was the UPF50+ UV protective Palm Springs halter tankini. I would gladly get this for myself too if they had my size, and my sister said the same thing too!! It features feminine ruffles at the neck and waist and the tropical print reminds me of a nice beach holiday every time I see it :P This one we use in the evenings when the sun isn't that strong or hot.

It also comes in a set with a super soft terry cover-up dress with the same palm print in the hood lining. There's also a convenient front pocket with sweet smocking details at the cap sleeves and pocket.Really comfortable to wear to and from the pool, or as a casual dress by itself.

The lenses are also polarised to reduce the harsh sun glare and with the flexible rubber frames, it fits her head nicely without being too "stiff". Also, as much as I remind her, sometimes she tends to pull it open before wearing so the flexible frames withstand this "shock" better. It also comes with a Babiators Cloud sunglasses case that can hang nicely on her bag :)
