He is pretty fit and really not how one would deem as "fat". He is also erm, kinda "vain" and very determined to get the body shape {and six-pack!!} that he wants so was pretty frustrated that he just could not seem to get rid of that stubborn fat around his tummy, no matter how hard he exercised and dieted.
Affecting both guys and girls, it's not just hubby really. Stubborn fat is physiologically different than "regular" fat... and is very, very resistant to the fat-burning effects of diet and exercise. The first body areas that you put on fat are also the last places you will lose them.
Some of my other female friends fuss about this too. They seem pretty slim and have no need to lose any extra weight, but lament about stubborn fats around their belly, thighs, hips and butt that just refuse to go away.
Anyway a few weeks back the boy looked into ways of getting rid of stubborn fat and read up on Liposonix treatment, which is a nonsurgical fat reduction procedure that can get rid of targeted fat around your waistline. The treatment is completed in just one visit and lasts about one hour. With little to no downtime or aftercare, you can resume your active lifestyle right away.
I got a bit confused with the Liposuction treatment but as I found out more, there is a difference. Liposuction can only be performed by a qualified doctor in an operating theatre setting. It involves general anaesthesia and comes with all the associated risks of going under GA. Apart from that, it's an invasive and traumatic procedure which comes with inherent risks. Patients have died from liposuction procedures.
Liposonix, on the other hand, is completely non-invasive and recovery is much much faster. There's zero down time!

There must be at least 1 inch of pinchable fat in the area of treatment, but also, Liposonix are for those individuals who are very close to, or at their ideal weights, but yet find certain problematic areas where the fat is quite stubborn and is still there despite their best efforts in diet and exercise. Basically, it is for people who have done the work and need help for body sculpting and contouring. It is NOT for weight loss.

This is the most important part actually because did you know that when we lose weight, our fat cells shrink, but the number of fat cells remains the same. When we gain weight, those fat cells become larger again. Exercising and eating right can help to you to shrink your fat cells and be lean, but to totally eliminate them from the body, you need a treatment like this.

Dr Kang said that guys usually handle it better, and some women may feel more pain during the treatment. Maybe because we have thinner skin??? hahahah.

We'd have another check-up with Dr Kang 3 months later as that's when most patients see the maximum results. This is the time it takes for the body to naturally remove the fat cells that were destroyed during treatment.
Of course, this is if the boy maintains the same diet and active lifestyle before treatment... but I definitely see no problem there! In fact, nowadays I think he's doing even more to make sure that he gets the best result from this treatment.
See the video above for the boy's Liposonix treatment experience or watch it on my YouTube channel here if the video isn't working.
I think after my current personal training fitness program when hopefully, I've reached my ideal weight/shape and gotten into the habit of regular exercise and healthy eating, I'd like to give this a shot too to reduce the extra fat cells. I emphasize on "extra" since a certain amount of body fat is essential for health, especially in women.
Obviously, extra fat cells that are no longer there can't get bigger so it'll definitely help in deterring future unwanted weight gain!

Frequently Asked Questions {FAQs}
1. How long will the effects last?
The effects are permanent if the patient's diet and physical activity levels are maintained. Meaning, the patient is not gaining weight from an unhealthy diet or lack of exercise anyway.
2. What's the best results possible?
Most patients lose at least one inch {2.5cm} around the waist, or one clothing size. It's hard to specify any "best result" possible, because any input from the patient, in terms of improving his/her activity levels and diet will definitely yield better results also. In addition, the results are also dependent on how large and area is covered and whether or not that patient has a lot to lose in the first place.
3. Are there any side effects?
No, if done properly and on the right patients. That's why that one inch of "pinchable fats" rule is important. If the area covered doesn't have enough fat in the first place, there can be risks of skin burns and damage to other structures like nerves or blood vessels.
Apart from the mild discomfort during the procedure itself, the patient may feel some discomfort or aching feeling in the areas covered for a few days.
5. Does Dr Kang charge for first consultation?
Usually S$55 for the first consult and S$25 for reviews but quote "Sakura Haruka" for the exclusive 25% discount off the Liposonix treatment and consultation fees for my blog readers.
6. How much does the Liposonix treatment cost?
Dr Kang charges S$300 per square but quote "Sakura Haruka" for the exclusive 25% discount off the Liposonix treatment and consultation fees for my blog readers.
7. How many squares are required per treatment?
It depends on which areas you want to target. For the boy, he needed 4 squares to destroy fat cells around his lower abdomen and sides.
8. Which body parts are suitable for the Liposonix treatment.
Abdominal fats, buttocks, thighs and arms.
9. How long is the whole procedure?
Usually about one hour but the boy only took about 45 minutes for 4 squares.
10. What's the minimum age requirement?
Medically, there's no minimum age requirement.
11. If the 1st treatment does not meet expectations, can a 2nd treatment be done immediately?
Yes, after the 2 month period and review consultation with Dr Kang.
12. Any after-care instructions or dietary restrictions?
Nothing special - just maintain your healthy diet and physical activity levels.

Wa..sound very good!
I will definitely look for the doctor at Greenwich V..
Thanks!!
Looks like you two are on a health kick. Good on you!
You got me laughing a "trusty aesthetic doctor". I mean, how many people can say that they've got one! I don't even remember the name of the guy who gave me my epidurals!
I just don't know if I could do this. It's great for others though. Your hubby looks fit, and I bet having this done helped him to feel good about himself.
Interesting! Your explanation of "stubborn fat" makes a lot of sense, actually. No matter how much a person exercises or diets, it just sits there...
Wow I really got to try this. Looks really effective and pain free just like laser lipo body contouring should be like. Thanks for such a nicely put post showing us each aspect of the treatment.
