Last Sunday we took part in Singapore's first ever My Little Pony Friendship Run!! It's been about half a year since our last family run {DC Justice Heroes League Run} and it was great to be out and about at it again.
It was so bright and sunny... absolutely gorgeous weather to run around Sentosa in!

The starting point was at Sentosa Palawan Green and the event had more than 5,000 participants! My Little Pony characters - Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash - also made special appearances.
My Little Pony Friendship Run featured three race categories: the 6km Bestie Run where best friends came hand in hand to celebrate the Magic of Friendship; the 1km Pony Kids Run for parents to bond with their children; as well as the 4km Fun Run which was the run we took part in.
These are the race routes that started near the Beach Station. You can click here to see a bigger picture.
The boy was very game to join in our family run, even though My Little Pony isn't really a very macho thing haha... He did modify the runner's t-shirt into a muscle tee to make it more "manly" (>∀<)
Lil Pumpkin was obviously the happiest of us all!! She likes the My Little Pony cartoon and knows the names of all the characters by heart.
We saw a number of our friends at the run and Lil Pumpkin was thrilled to spot her P5 buddy there too!
They ran together almost continuously for half the way but Lil Pumpkin was quite tired after that and couldn't keep up so I told the buddy not to worry and just go on ahead with her uncle, whom she came with.
Maybe after a few more runs and proper training, Lil Pumpkin will be able to run the full distance! I think her buddy is in the sports team or goes running regularly as I see that her run technique is pretty good. It was quite a feat for Lil Pumpkin to keep up with her buddy for about 2km and we're so proud of her!
There were 2 water points - one near the 2km mark, and the other near the 3km mark. The course marshals were very efficient in giving out cups of water and even kindly helped me to fill up Lil Pumpkin's water bottle when I asked.
I reckon it would have been a good idea to have the first water point further up the race though. Since it's a Fun Run, most participants probably want to travel light and not bring their own water or sports drink. Usually we'd have to wait around 20-30 minutes for the race to start, and especially in our hot climate, we'd be very thirsty soon after the run starts and having the first water point nearing the halfway mark is a tad too far IMHO.
Luckily I brought along Lil Pumpkin's water bottle for her! She drank most of her water by the time we reached the first water point (つД・) So parents, if you're joining any fun runs, please remember to bring your own water just in case!
Mandatory family pictures at the route markers!!! hahahaha...
The 4km run around scenic Sentosa was very enjoyable and it was interesting to see many fans dressed up as characters from the popular cartoon show, sporting iridescent hair extensions and colourful outfits!
The last kilometer or so Lil Pumpkin was exhausted so the boy and I took turns training our muscles and carrying her forward.. we definitely put all our fitness training to good use heh!
Look at her cheeky face when she's carried by us!! (๑→ܫ←)
I made sure that she got down nearing the finish line and finished strong on her own two feet though!!
After our run we continued the fun and had a picnic at the Ponyville Marketplace. There were various My Little Pony-themed fringe activities such as the Rarity Carousel Boutique and the My Little Pony animation screenings.
It truly was a Sunday well spent and I can't wait for our next family fun run again!!! I wonder what else is coming up this year haha..
Have a look at a video I made of our family experience in My Little Pony Friendship Run 2016! You can spot the four fun-filled zones we ran through - Bubbles in the Air, Sparkle Zone, Rainbow Zone and the “Say Cheese” Zone - before crossing the finish line.
I don't know anything about My Little Pony, but it looks so different from the one during my time! :P Such a fun run, and I'm impressed that Lil' Pumpkin completed most of the 4km on her own. With a bit more training, she'll be able to do the full run next year! PS. Loving your new hairstyle, plus how your husband made his tee look more manly! Haha. So creative!
Love the video... it would have been lovely to be there running with the rest of MLP fans. We had tickets too and had to give it a miss because Yasmin was unwell the night before :(
Looks like so much fun!! My girl also loves My Little Pony!! Now I wished I had signed up for it... Nevermind. Living vicariously through your family's experience on this one.
I wish we had fun runs like that here. If we do, I've never heard of them. This might entice children to move more! And, we wonder why we have such an obesity problem here. We need to get with the program and offer runs like this to our children too. Looks so fun and colorful!
I love the photo of your little one running - she looks so happy! Great family fun! I hope you'll come share at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2016/02/the-walls-of-san-juan.html
So cute that Lil Pumpkin ran hand in hand with her buddy. We didn't attempt the 4km run as I wasn't sure how well Sophie will take to it. Perhaps next year :)
What a great turn out for the MLP Run and awesome weather too! :D Little Pumpkin looks like she really enjoyed the run and I'm sure this is only the beginning of more family runs to come :D
There is nothing more macho than a man wearing a Little Pony tshirt! LOL! Looks like it was an awesome day! I'm hoping to get my boys doing a 1km fun run too. I can't believe how big Lil Pumpkin is getting! And I am LOVING your pixie hair x

Nice video! You should have used some My Little Pony songs as the background music.. hahaha...

I can see that Lil Pumpkin is thoroughly enjoying the run. There are so many photo taking points too.
Look so fun! What a pity that we could not be there as my children had class that day!
Look like so much fun.!!

What a fun run! Well done to Lil Pumpkin for finishing the race.. well, almost!
Glad you really had fun at the run! Those kilometer posters with My Little Pony are so cute!
I'm glad you had good weather. It sounds fun and the pics are fantabulous, as usual. :)

I'd join just for the Tshirt! Did your hubs chop off the sleeves of his?
This makes running for families fun. We only have color runs here that I've seen.
I have a guy college student that loves My Little Pony. He's big, and burly. Guys that get into My Little Pony here are called 'Bronies'. So funny!
I think it's great you are running as a family! Way to go!
