It's Snowing at 313@somerset!

It never snows in Singapore. Period. However, this Christmas, the good people at 313@somerset decided to bring a winter wonderland right in the heart of the city! I'm not talking about foam bubbles that look like snow, but make-a-real-snowman kinda snow! :)

I went down for the preview of 313 Snow Dome last Thursday with the little pumpkin and my family since the kiddos haven't experienced snow before. Good thing we went because the pumpkin and her cousin were so ecstatic! Really such a joy seeing them so happy playing in the snow *grins*

313@somerset does not have any kid stores {see here for more kid-friendly shopping malls}, but it certainly is a place for trendy mums and ladies looking for affordable & chic fashion-wear. With anchor stores like F21, Zara, Uniqlo, Esprit, New Look etc., it is one of my favourite haunts in Orchard Road. The boy also likes to go there for Uniqlo, EpiCentre {Apple premium reseller} and Limited Edition Vault {specialty shop for sneakers & shoes}. Not forgetting the little pumpkin, there's also a big baby care room on L1 & L5 and the family-friendly Marché {love the crackling pork knuckles & smoked salmon rosti} that she loves to eat at because of the entertaining playground in the restaurant :)

If you are are already planning to do X'mas shopping, you might as well go to 313@somerset and enjoy this unique experience with your family. Shoppers get one pass into the 313 Snow Dome for every $200 spent in a single day. Good news for the little ones is that a kid aged 12 and under can enter free with an adult that has a valid pass! As the little pumpkin and her cousin enjoyed themselves so much, it certainly is something for the kids that I think shouldn't be missed. It's not every day that we get to travel to a cold country to celebrate winter, but now we can right here in our home country... Moreover, with every pass, you get a coupon to savour a little treat from Starbucks ;p

Don't worry about lugging your winter wear to enter the 313 Snow Dome. There's a complimentary rental of winter wear from the Winter Time store. You can borrow jackets, scarves, beanies, gloves, socks, shoes etc. Everything you need to keep warm inside the -3 degrees 313 Snow Dome.

Even if you don't intend to enter the 313 Snow Dome, why not head down and take some pictures? It is, after all, a Singapore-first! There are also Christmas performances there by children's singing groups, rock bands, flute ensembles etc. to get into the festive spirit this season.

313 Snow Dome
Open only from 9 - 24 Dec 11
Sun - Thu: 12pm - 10pm
Fri & Sat: 12pm - 11pm

P.S. The snow is changed regularly, don't worry ;p

Hi Ai,
You and your daughter certainly had fun! Beautiful pictures. I am from a tropical country and I have never experienced snow so I can understand the excitement you all experienced. Take care.
Love,
Judy

I read about it in the papers too! How long did you get to stay inside for? It's certainly looks more fun than the "snow" in Tanglin Mall.

What a fantastic idea! I'm so glad your kids were able to experience snow. We get some snow here but all too often, I'm caught up in the worries of practicalities of snow; like driving. I'll remember this year to enjoy it through the excitement of my daughter.

Oh, how fun! I miss snow this time of year now that I live where it was warmer. Wish a snow bubble would come somewhere near to me so my little one could see snow for the first time!

Wow that certainly looks like fun! And the rental winter wear is pretty trendy stuff too. Guess you don't get to stay very long since it looks like you get the whole place to yourself?

On an unrelated note, I just realised that I'd been reading your mom's blog way before I read yours! I liked looking at her food. Then I stopped reading. Last week I came across the link, went in again and slowly realised that was your mom! The time I was a regular reader she was writing about Ryan. She definitely comes across as loving and talented, lucky you. :)
