Art + Play | Her First Kids Art Lessons at WowART

I mentioned a while back that Lil Pumpkin was starting art classes to develop her interest in creating things and actually, she's been having lessons at WowArt Learning Studio for 3 weeks already! Decided to make her a simple digital scrapbook with My Memories Suite software to mark this milestone.

Lil Pumpkin really likes her art classes, and looks forward to it every week. It has kind of become her Achilles' heel. Sometimes if she's naughty or doesn't want to eat her food, we will "threaten" that we won't bring her for art classes and she will willingly follow our instructions ;p I hope she grows up with such passion for learning in all her other school subjects as well!

WowART Studio is a children art learning studio that utilises methodlogies from Early Childhood Psychology, Creative Development and Art Education in its signature art courses for kids from ages 2.5 - 12 years old. Lil Pumpkin is currently enrolled in the ARTPLAY course for kids aged 2.5 - 4 years old since she's about 3.5 years old.

At this age, kids learn best through games and play, so ARTPLAY helps to kickstart their art learning adventure though imagination and expression. Her friendly Teacher Kin encourages the small class {maximum of 8, but currently only 4 kids including Lil Pumpkin} to explore and experiment with various colours and drawing mediums through fun and games and patiently explains each material and texture in simple, child-like terms so that the young minds can understand.

Her first 2 lessons she learnt about shapes and experimented painting with various brushes, sticks and droppers on cloth & cardboard. For her lesson last week, she made a beautiful windchime!

Parents are not allowed in the classrooms, but all the studios are designed with glass panels which enables parents to easily view the progress of the child. They were nice enough to let me accompany Lil Pumpkin for her first few lessons to get her adjusted though. But don't worry even if you aren't in the class. Each lesson is around 75 minutes and at the end, Teacher Kin will debrief all the parents on what was learnt that day.

All art materials are supplied and fees included in the term fees. For each enrolled term, you will also get a carry folder, apron and artwork file free! :) Oh, we got lost on our first day there but to reach WowART Studio, drive into Jalan Todak where the shophouses are, go along Sin Ming Road, enter the carpark entrance of Sin Ming Plaza, then drive along the small road that leads to the Thomson Imperial Court. Parking is available at the basement of Thomson Imperial Court.

This looks great! The boys used to go to something similar called Art n Move but parents had to participate. It definitely wasn't as cool as this set up, though!
