Outdoor Family Photoshoot at Chinese Gardens

I truly enjoyed the long Chinese New Year {CNY} weekend that just passed. A time of rest and respite, the best part was being able to spend it with family, especially the boy since he was off for 4 WHOLE days! Throughout the year, his clinic is only fully closed during CNY, so waking up to see him in bed, and knowing that he didn't have to leave for work anytime during the day is pretty awesome. I loved having him around those 4 days and Lil Pumpkin was glad that both of us didn't have to go to work either :)

Even though my mum had to go in and out of A&E twice because of her wounds, and Lil Pumpkin was ill most of the time, overall, we still have loads to be thankful and happy for.

Alwyn had some time available last Saturday so we met up with him for a family photo shoot at Chinese Garden. The last time he took our photos was 2 years ago at the Botanics Gardens.. when I had long hair!!

Earlier that morning, Lil Pumpkin had vomited and was feeling pretty awful. We thought, "Oh no! Not again!" since she was sick the last time Alwyn took our photos at Marina Barrage too.

She slept most of the Saturday away and thankfully woke up just before we left feeling much better. Even if she wasn't up for the shoot, we decided to still go ahead to meet Alwyn since it's not really that nice to cancel last minute and also, even if we couldn't get a lot of family shots with poor Lil Pumpkin, the boy and I could still get some couple shots. I would love that since our 12th anniversary is coming up next Monday and I can't even remember the last time we took nice couple shots together haha.

Alwyn has a new "Phase One System" that's supposed to be amazing. It's a medium-format digital camera, but it doesn't really matter to me since I think his photography skills is superb no matter which camera he is using :P He's the kind of photographer that replies on his skills to create a beautiful image, instead of Photoshop to get there and I really admire him for that. But anyway, he is really excited for it and if a camera can get Alwyn excited, it must be a damn good one.

As usual, he worked pretty fast post-processing and the night after we did the shoot, he sent me all the 41 images that passed his selection. I'm just gonna share a few of my favourites in this post...

Lil Pumpkin was such a super trooper in smiling for the camera, even though I know she was feeling overall pretty weak. We kept the shoot short and finished up in under an hour. It was nice exploring the Chinese Garden though... the last time I went was when my parents brought me there as a kid to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival! They used to give out free lanterns and mooncakes there, and it was really lively.

Now, Chinese Garden seems a little abandoned and wasn't too crowded even though it was the weekend. Feel like going back again to explore it better and take more photos on my own.

Thanks once again for your time, Alwyn! It's been 4 years since we started having regular family photo shoots and I love seeing how we, especially Lil Pumpkin, have changed and grown.

Your pictures turned out great!

I love the windmill/magic wand.

Your outfits are great to!

When my oldest was your daughter's age he had constant tummy issues for an extended period of time. His doctor said it was toddler diarrhea. They can get it from the age of 2 to 5. I just thought about that when you mentioned that Lil Pumpkin was sick most of that month.

Lil Pumpkin sure is a trooper. I can't tell that she was sick from the photos and you have so many nice family pictures of the festive mood too.

Sweetday: Thanks! That's still more recent than me haha

Masshole Mommy: Aww you should!

Alissa: Thanks dear! Oh it wasn't diarrhea but thanks for sharing. It's good to know such things.

Mail4rosey: Aww hope your little one is better now!

Susan: Ya! Thought we might as well take some in our cheongsams for a change & go a bit further to Chinese Garden :P

Your outfit coordinates with hers nicely! Always lovely to have family photoshoots. Hope your mum and Pumpkin are much better now.

I wish there was someone around here to take good family photos, but they all stink at photography. The ones that are good cost an arm and a leg, and I just can't shell out $400 for family photos. So, I'll continue to just take them of my family, never really getting in the photos myself lol.

Love, love, love all the photos! Lil Pumpkin is such an awesome girl. Hope she feels better now.

Most of our family photo shoots are DIY. We only did one formal shoot more than a year ago. I wish to do it too regularly.

Do you mind if I ask how much is Alwyn's rate for an ourdoor shoot?
