Little Girls Hairstyles: Hair Loom Double Studio by Rainbow Loom + FAQs

Lil Pumpkin has luscious, long hair which I'm soooooooo envious of and I love experimenting different hairstyles with her beautiful hair while she still lets me ❤

Recently we got the new Hair Loom Studio Double kit, by the makers of Rainbow Loom. Together with the Single kit, they were released in mid-May 2015. I'm pretty happy that new kits are out because I was getting kinda bored just making loom bracelets and character charms, and was wondering what I was going to do with all the leftover loom bands I had!

This Hair Loom Studio Double kit comes with 2 Finger Looms, 2 large guide tubes, 1 small guide tube, 2 guide tips, 2 plastic bead needles, 1 plastic hook, 2 extension rods, 600 hair loom bands, 40 beads, an instruction manual & an anti-counterfeit secret code.

With the kit, you can make braids or charms to put into your hair. You don't need prior Rainbow Loom knowledge to work this, and it's really easy to do 。(⌒∇⌒。) Or, if you have previous bracelets or charms e.g. bows and flowers, you want to put in your hair, you can do that do that too easily. Just transfer it to the extension rod with the help of the guide tips, then to the guide tubes and finally to your hair.

Like with my Monster Tail loom, I can just relax back on the couch and work on this while watching TV or waiting for Lil Pumpkin to finish her swim class. The box is very handy for me to keep the tools/ bands neatly for storage and traveling around.

The kit is recommended for kids aged 8+ and above because of the sharp plastic tips, but kids younger like Lil Pumpkin are well able to make their own hair looms under adult supervision.

I made the one on the right and it took me around 15 minutes to make. Lil Pumpkin made the one on the left and it took her slightly longer but other than helping her to start, she did everything else including picking the colours and keeping to the pattern herself.

With two of everything, we can work on separate designs quickly and is very handy for girls when they have play dates or parties too!

We brought it out a few times and it's an easy craft to do in times of waiting...helps trains her dexterity and motor skills too.

To put the Hair Loom creations on the hair, just use the purple plastic hook to pull the hair into the pink guide tube, and slowly transfer the bands over. It might sound a bit confusing but there's a handy pictorial manual you can refer to in the kit, or follow the free YouTube tutorial videos available online. I like those from Craft Life and Tutorials by A. Those girls are so talented!

You can end off with some beads but as the bunch of hair I used was too thick for the bead hole, I just tied a band at the end to prevent it from slipping down. The coloured pony beads add a little something extra and I put them on other strands of the hair. So hippy!! haha.. goes well with her coloured hair extensions actually and the colour possibilities are endless.

Important tip! Rub hair conditioner/ serum onto the rods, guide tubes and hair before transferring any hair loom creations. It makes the job much easier! ( ⋂‿⋂’)

Remember those Rainbow Loom name bracelets that took forever to make?!! Yeah, I really wanted to try and make those but just didn't have the time and patience to do so. They seemed pretty confusing too.

Well Rainbow Loom came out with another new kit in mid-May 2015 too for lazy people like me to make those name bracelets - Alpha Loom. Actually, it also provides a quick and easy way to make belts, straps {like to fit for your Loomey Time watch cases} and more. I haven't had time to try this yet but from what I've seen online from others so far, I'm loving the possibilities!

Will try this out and write another review post on this later (✌゚∀゚)☞ 待ってますね~

Frequently Asked Questions {FAQs}

1. Where can I get a Hair Loom Double Studio kit?
In Singapore, you can purchase an official Hair Loom Double Studio kit from Rainbow Loom Singapore and their stockists. It is on sale now at S$19.90 {U.P. S$27.90}.

2. I just need one. Does it come in a single pack?
Yes, you can also buy Hair Loom Studio Single kit from Rainbow Loom Singapore. It is on sale now at S$14.90 {U.P. S$18.90} and comes with 1 Finger Loom, 1 large guide tube, 1 small guide tube, 1 guide tip, 1 plastic bead needle, 1 hook, 600 hair loom bands, 40 beads, an instruction manual & an anti-counterfeit secret code.

3. Should I buy a Hair Loom Single or Double kit?
A Double kit is great for parties or play dates, and I also like that it comes in a hard box to keep all your tools and bands neatly. Plus, you can prepare more possibilities faster and it is not that much more expensive than a Single kit. However, if you're just starting out and you're not going to use it often, a Single kit is more than sufficient.

4. Is it difficult to use?
Not at all! It's only as hard as you make it, and can be as easy as making a simple fish-tail loom braid.

5. How long can you keep it in your hair?
There's no recommended time period, but it's probably best to take it out within one week.

6. Can you wash your hair with the Hair Looms?
Yes, you can wash your hair with the Hair Loom creations in but just be extra careful when washing so that the creations do not fall out.

7. Does it feel heavy or uncomfortable?
I asked Lil Pumpkin, and she said it doesn't feel heavy or uncomfortable when she sleeps. If you put the Hair Loom Creations at the back of your head, it might be though when you lie down.

8. Can you reuse the loom bands again after use?
They become slightly stretched, but yes they can be re-used again depending on its condition.

9. What type of loom bands are provided in the kit?
Latex-free silicone bands are provided in the kit to help ensure that hair does not get tangled or pulled.

10. Can I use my other Rainbow Loom bands?
Yes, you can use all Rainbow Loom bands for the Hair Studio Loom. As before, be careful not to use counterfeit products which may contain harmful substances.

If you have the Hair Loom Studio too, I'd love to see the designs you've made! Come email me your photos or share with me on Facebook page & Instagram! (★^O^★)

Those look fun! I could see Isaak getting into doing that for my hair. :) He got a different kind of loom from my sister for his birthday. I should totally get it out to try. I have to learn the stuff before he does.
