Christmas is usually a quiet affair in our family. There's cozy little gatherings with our family and close friends, but no late-night gallivanting or massive parties with a big crowd. I like it this way actually, as you get to really savour the moments with one another, and appreciate each conversation and time together.
It's a time of giving and remembering our blessings, and boy, are we blessed. Not just by presents, but by the presence of our loved ones who come to celebrate with us. A lot of us are busy with work and don't get to meet up often so I'm very thankful to those that took the time to show up.
I'm happy Lil Pumpkin got to create special memories with so many people that love her, especially with her grandparents. Memories of decorating the Christmas tree, singing karaoke or craving the turkey with them... absolutely priceless. They are getting older and more frail, so the time spent with them is very, very precious.
I was lamenting to the boy that Lil Pumpkin never got to sit on the lap of Santa Claus for a festive Christmas photo like how I see my friends' kids do in Australia or the US. He decided to dress-up as Santa to surprise our little girl :)
Her sweet daddy handmade this intricate paper Santa mask... it took him 4 hours!!! Oh the things we do for our kids! :) Lil Pumpkin saw right through his disguise {"why Santa has no tummy??!"}, of course, but she still was mighty pleased with it and giggled lots.
That's what matters, right?
Christmas food was simply amazing. This year I didn't have to prepare any festive meals because they were all lovingly cooked by my mother and mother-in-law. Scrumptious, home-cooked meals in our childhood homes where the boy and I grew up in and celebrated many-a-Christmas. Oh what bliss!
We waited until Christmas morning to open all the presents. It was quite chaotic but this year we did it all in Lil Pumpkin's room to contain the mess haha. I kept some of the handwritten cards that we received. Think I'll put it in
her time capsule :P
Her Christmas wish was granted and she got the dollhouse that she's been asking for a very long time. We bought her a sweet, wooden one from ELC. Lil Pumpkin loves it a lot and frankly speaking, so do I! She's been playing with it everyday since Christmas and is her new favourite plaything.
Such a wonderful Christmas with so many beautiful memories to treasure and keep! It really is my favourite season of the year!

Wishing you and the family a Very Happy New Year!
A beautiful post! I loved that he dressed up like Santa for her! :)
Most of our opening presents time takes place when it's dark. That's the hard thing. Pictures were taken, but they are not that good. :( I tried my settings on manual, but they were blurry because the kids moved around a lot. We open them Christmas Eve (dark) and Christmas Morning (still dark). We had a wonderful time.
You are right family is so important.
Another question is... why Santa has no shirt? Hehe. What a fit Santa though!
Merry belated Xmas and a happy new year!
